Pi-logue Competition '24
On March 14th, 2024, Pi: Department of Mathematics, Hansraj College commemorated International Pi Day
with an event named Pi-Logue, celebrating the transcendental nature of pi and the wonders of
mathematics. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony, symbolizing
enlightenment and knowledge.
Speaker Session:
Distinguished mathematician Prof. Geetha Venkataraman, from Ambedkar University, Delhi, delivered an
enlightening session on the multifaceted world of mathematics, emphasizing its diverse applications,
projects, and research avenues, particularly at the undergraduate level. Prof. Venkataraman, a
specialist in Group Theory, expounded upon various mathematical appliances and ongoing projects at the
undergraduate level, highlighting the significance of undergraduate research journals in fostering
mathematical inquiry. Her illustrious academic journey, from earning a bachelor's degree from St.
Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, to receiving a doctoral degree from the University of Oxford,
underscored her expertise and passion for the subject.
